故事发生在1942年四月。就是二战日本偷袭珍珠港之后的几个月。
Duke和他的朋友PeeWee， Tyler还有日本邻居 Willy 最喜欢玩儿打仗和捉敌人的游戏。他们在海边的废旧工厂有一个“据点”。一天他们发现了海浪冲上来的受伤的日本潜艇人员Matsuo。孩子们保留了这个秘密，没有告诉父母。并且为了如何处理此事而为难……直到有一天Matsuo救了Duke，两人成为了好朋友。 Matsuo还教会了Duke游泳。不久，几个男孩都...展开Matsuo成了朋友，并决定帮他逃到墨西哥。
Duke 很崇拜在军队同日本人打仗的哥哥。当他得知哥哥阵亡后，突然改变了帮助Matsuo的主意。
最终，孩子们还是帮助了Matsuo，但是因为有人通知了警察而失败了…… 结尾还是很好的，不过你要自己去发现~~~
"I'll Remember April" is a movie that's loosely based on actual reports of Japanese submarines patrolling off the U.S. Pacific coast in World War II. Though the movie was most likely made before Haley's powerful starring role in "The Sixth Sense", it was not released in the USA until January, 2001. Though Trevor Morgan is indeed the star of "I'll Remember April", it would seem that the marketers were trying to capitalize on Haley's popularity and featured him and his name on the cover.
The story takes place in April of 1942, just a few months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Duke and his pals PeeWee, Tyler, and Japanese next-door neighbor Willy are typical boys who like to run around in the woods and pretend to be Marines in search of the enemy. They have a clubhouse in an abandoned mill on the coast where much to their surprise they find Matsuo (Yuji Okumoto), an injured Japanese submariner who washed up on shore. The boys keep Matsuo a secret from their parents while they struggle with the decision of what to do with him . . . until the day that he rescues Duke from drowning in the bay. Duke and Matsuo become friends, Matsuo even teaches him how to swim. Soon all the boys befriend Matsuo and decide to help him escape by train to Mexico.
Duke idolizes his brother Anthony who is fighting the Japanese overseas. Their plans to help Matsuo suddenly change when Duke thinks his brother has been killed in the war. In the end the boys decide to help Matsuo, but their train-escape plan is foiled when one of their group betrays them and tells the police of the plan. There's much more to the story and a very happy ending, but you will just have to watch the movie to find out how it all turns out!
