Love Triangle (2007)

　　A young woman is warned by her mother that if she keeps eating samosas then her boyfriend won't like her. From here the film quickly looks at her relationship with her boyfriend where the fact that she is a samosa is v...展开ery much an elephant in the room that puts a terrible strain on their relationship.
　　With brisk and basic animation, this film is refreshingly light and airy and based on a simple childhood warning. The film isn't so obvious to blurt out the saying "you'll turn into a samosa someday" but it is this that it is based on. However this is moved past quite quickly and not made a big deal out of – the script doesn't have her change be something there and then but rather long before we join the story. This means that the relationship is already on and that the practicals of this are straining, even simple stuff like crumbs in the man's chest hair.
　　The characters are played out well with plenty of expression on the animated figures but also solid voice work from Katerine Parkinson and Alan Davies, who convince within their lines and characters. The animation adds charm to the proceedings because, although it is not detailed, it feels intimate and slick and the effect is very positive. Although the "bigger" Blackwatch films tend to be the ones that stick in my mind with more detailed animation and richer feels, this quirky little film is still a good example of the quality of films that they can produce without this. Very enjoyable and engaging.
