His mother is married to a man younger than herself, and she worries about keeping the relationship going, unwittingly leaving her son somewhat marginated. It was in a moment of emotional duress during a discussion with her husband that she revealed her son was adopted - and the little boy overhears. Each day after school, he goes to search for the children's home. His activities do not take long to arouse the curiosity of his parents, and by talking to his teacher, the mother becomes aware that he must be looking for his origins.
