　　Viktor Kosakovsky dedicates his first film to Losev Aleksej Fëdoroviã philologist, philosopher and religious thinker, one of the Russian greatest philosophers in the 20th century. He was the last representative of the ...展开Russian''s pre-Revolutionary culture, and the only one to have miraculously survived the Communist regime. During the Soviet epoch all of Losev''s teachers, colleagues and friends were persecuted, exterminated, or silenced. He meets the old man shortly before his death, and garners his last thoughts: those of a theologian who has devoted his life to formulating the concepts of destiny, of liberty and of God. Losev died in 1988 aged 95 years having left 30 thick volumes of philosophy. Only with the advent of GlasnosÈ was it possible for his work to be published in Russia. This film was shot during the latest monthes of Losev''s life and contains the only footage of Losev ever shot.
　　"This is my student film. In the begining I wanted just to film him, his face, because nobody filmed him before. In that time in Russia it was impossible even to find the photo of him... He foretold his own death, several month before, he told me that he will die at 24th of May. And he died at 24th of May. Of his own death Losev says, ‘it is an act of divine love towards me’. No one else has ever filmed Losev. Neither before, nor after. I miraculously talked him into three short filming sessions, and I was then obliged to include every single shot in the final film for the sake of posterity." (Viktor Kosakovsky)
