年仅20岁的比尔·赛莱提既没受过教育又身无分文，但却有着惊人的足球天赋。足球事业上接二连三的成功刺激了他极力想抓住体育报刊头版以及在周日赛场上大出风头的欲望。两年的肮脏足坛生活、一场致命的假球风波、难耐的小城镇寂寞生活、与形形色色的女人们的逢场作戏以及漫无目的的人生追求杂乱地交织在一起。过眼烟云散尽之后，他离自己的梦想渐行渐远。到底是谁导致了比尔的人生悲剧？

Bill Seretis is twenty years old. Uneducated... penniless... His strong legs and his talent as a soccer player are all he has going for him. With these assets he wants to conquer the soccer fields, to capture the colourful headlines of the sports papers, to have himself crowned king on Sundays. After a two year stint on dirt soccer fields, cheap hotels, "thrown" games, the loneliness of the countryside and hasty affairs with women of every sort, the dream... the major Athens team. Only as soon as he touches it the dream vanishes. The soccer establishment and the vested interests of special groups crush Bill.
