The Darned Bulb, an Autobiography of Self Delusion影片简介
The experimental film "The Darned Bulb, an Autobiography of Self Delusion" is in fact the practical application of the PhD thesis "Eclecticism, fragmentation and deconstruction in contemporary visual-kinetic arts" I su...展开bmitted in June 2011.
Based in our artistic approach on a minimum script of surrealistic nature, we tried to explore through this experiment the way in which a type of non-narrative "story" operates, the discrepancy between image and dialogue editing (few as they are) deconstructing conventional narrative linearity, to open a perspective of new ideational connections and of dramaturgic conflict.
The autobiographical experiences and impressions, extrapolated to the dream world of memories, were deliberately mixed with real images from the archive, so that through a kind of neighborhood effect to support and also reject each other, creating an ambiguity that however often characterizes the uncertain flow of memory. Precisely to reinforce the paradox of this situation, we imposed a certain "clumsy kinetic" scrolling images "frame by frame", which simultaneously invokes a type of analytical perception, certainly in order to stimulate attention.
The three male characters, the child, the student, and he (actually I), are often bewilderedly found even in the same frame as a symbol of the simultaneous coexistence of all ages in a person, summed up at the same moment, a strange "ubiquity time" (the simultaneous presence of a person at different ages in the same space) that almost subconsciously dominates the memory, especially ... after a certain number of years.
Finally, the sharp ringing which often prevails over the sound of the film comes from a personal physiological condition, and I think it can support the subjective "autobiographical" nature of the film.
