The film inspired by Bertillón 166 (novel), written by José Soler Puig, who was holder of Casa de las Américas Award is an earned acknowledgment to the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) in its 50th anniversary. The film depicts the insurrection, rebelliousness and also the solidarity in Santiago de Cuba, during the clandestine struggle of the urban fighters against Batista's dictatorship. Ciudad en Rojo will represent Cuba in the upcoming International Festival of Guadalajara, in Mexico.
