When the artist Peter Roehr died in Frankfurt/Main in 1968, scarcely 24 years old, he left behind over 600 works: pictures, texts, films and tapes, all created around the mid-sixties and following the same serial princ...展开iple of uninterrupted repetition. Roehrs axiomatic and minimalist uvre strongly reflects his conceptual notion of art. It is therefore not surprising that the current artworld experiences the work of Peter Roehr, and especially his 22 Film Montages from 1965, as extremely contemporary. Works of Peter Roehr have been seen as an unmistakeable example of the international development of contemporary art and were shown in numerous exhibitions: documenta V (1972), Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven (1977), Kunstmuseum Luzern (1978), Haus der Kunst München (1986), Guggenheim Museum New York (1992); 2009 the Stadel Museum and the Museum for Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt are featuring Peter Roehr with a one-man show.
